Local car dealerships have reported an extremely busy June period for used car sales but with auction prices hitting sky high levels and logistical issues for getting cars back to the dealerships it has meant that forecourt are getting more empty as the weeks go by. Auctions had been online only recently and with fewer staff to help process purchases, getting the cars to the dealers have been an issue with many purchases still awaiting arrival. Despite the lockdown, many used car prices have been increasing in book value meaning stock has held its value during recent times. As more areas are continuously opening back up again, stock levels are expected to increase again over the coming months.

After the announcement by First Minister for Wales Mark Drakeford on Friday that non-retail businesses can now open in Wales as from Monday, provided they are setup safely with Covid-19 guidelines, there has been a lot of preparation work in place by local car dealerships with many opening back up their showrooms on Monday.
Some are already setup for this as they have had their workshops open for servicing and repairs whereas dealers just with a forecourt may need to make every efforts to ensure they keep customers safe. Many are using perspex screens to allow for safe discussions with customers along with lots of extra sanitising of cars and showrooms and keeping to social distancing.
As used car prices continue to hold their prices, with a shortage of used vehicles for sale (due to the low sales of new vehicles and lack of part exchanges coming back into the market) this has led to local stock levels dropping across the counties and prices remaining steady.
Its now more important than ever to help support local businesses and this includes our local car dealerships. Many of the local dealerships employ local people, many of us would know someone who works for one so its so important to help support the local workforce.
